Nolimit City has released Duck Hunters 2. The sequel pushes its take on the position-multiplier format further than the original while keeping the underlying math model intact. The story here is less about a new theme than about a studio doubling down on a mechanic that has spread rapidly across the online slots market since 2022.

Nolimit City has expanded its Duck Hunters slot franchise with the release of Duck Hunters 2, a follow-up to the original title that builds on the position multiplier mechanics that have become increasingly common across the online slot market in recent years. The final third derives from a further 0.4% of a club’s gaming machine profits over $1 million during a tax year. 

However, the scheme has faced ongoing scrutiny and criticism. Clubs can direct the funds towards upgrading their own facilities, and there is no mandated verification for how the grant recipients must deploy the money.

Curwen points to Raptor 2 as an example of what this means in practice. The game went through no fewer than 17 versions during its first couple of weeks of development.

“Speed of iteration is probably the biggest difference,” he says. “Traditionally, every significant change can create another development cycle involving several different teams. With Game in a Box, the creator can iterate much closer to real time.”

Crucially, Curwen sees those efficiencies as a means to an end rather than the primary objective.
